Kelechi Iheanacho lost his mother, Mercy to cold hands of death when he was just 16 years old.
Mercy Iheanacho was a teacher during her life, but she died in the hospital after a brief illness.
Few months after her death, Kelechi rose to stardom and became the youngest football prodigy in the world as he led Nigeria to the FIFA U17 World Cup in UAE.
His exploit at the tournament earned him a career-changing move to Manchester City, before joining Leicester City, where he’s now breaking records after records.
While speaking to New Flame in an exclusive interview, Kelechi Iheanacho said his biggest personal regret is not having his mother around to enjoy her labor.
“Death is unfair. Imagine having the chance to buy her whatever she’d like to have now, take her wherever she’d love to go, yet death took her away. ” He said.
The former Manchester City star stressed further she’s the reason he always looks up to the sky whenever he scores a goal.
